Today in church Pastor Hub started a three part sermon called "Get in the Game" in lieu of the Superbowl a few weeks away. It'll come to its conclusion on Super Bowl Sunday where he will split the congregation up depending on who they are rooting for to win the game-and he will somehow tie that into our sermon.
So the first part of the series today was subtitled "Get off the bench." It was perfect timing for Aaron and I because it ties in to exactly what we've been talking about. Get off your butt and make time to volunteer, help out, get involved...
"Forget yourself long enough to lend a helping hand." Philippians 2:4
So with all that being said, we're going to take the message today and apply it to our lives. We're going to sign up to volunteer for certain activities at church. In 2 weeks they are having a volunteer fair and we'll see whats available and put our names down. Even if it's something simple like working in the cafe' on Sunday mornings or being a parking lot greeter. I'm excited to see where this leads us and to hear how the next two Sundays will tie into today.
